1. Documents
There will be a lot of procedures that need to be done at the start of the semester, hence, the documents below should be brought along with you together, and making a few official copies of them will be a wise decision.
- Passport with visa
- University offer letter – original and photocopy
- Foreign Student Visa Application Form (JW101 or JW202) issued by the university – original and photocopy
- High School Graduate Certificate – original and certified copy
- High School Transcripts and Certificates – original and certified copy
- Passport and visa images (1 inch and 2 inches)
- HSK, IELTS / TOEFL Transcripts (if applicable) – original and certified copy
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form (if applicable)

3. Clothing
The weather in Shanghai is mostly warm and humid, with the highest temperature 39.9℃ in year 2013, and lowest temperature -12℃ in 1977. It’s spring and autumn are shorter, while winter and summer are longer. Hence, it is suggested that you should bring a few clothing from Malaysia to Shanghai and buy more when you reach there depending on the season.

- Winter clothes (sweater, coat, scarf, masks, etc)
- Traditional clothes (if applicable) (for international culture events in school)
4. Prohibited Items
- Arms, ammunition, and explosives of all kinds
- Counterfeit currencies and counterfeit negotiable securities
- Printed matter, magnetic media, films, or photographs which are deemed to be detrimental to the political, economic, cultural and moral interests of China
- Lethal poisons
- Illicit drugs
- Disease-carrying animals and plants; foods, medicines, and other articles coming from disease-stricken areas
- Food items containing certain food colorings and additives deemed harmful to human health by the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC)

5. Luggage Packing Tips
Checked-in baggage
- Umbrella
- Liquid more than 100ml
- Clothing, basic necessities
- Use thicker clothes to wrap food that are easily crushed as protection
- Add a baggage tag outside of your luggage to prevent it being lost or wrongly taken by someone else
Hand-carry baggage
- All liquid and their respective container has to be less than 100ml
- A few simple clothing, one sweater, stationery (excluding sharp items like scissors or blades), etc
- Important documents and items, power bank
- All electronic gadgets that include lithium battery
- The size and mass of the hand carry baggage should strictly follow the regulations of the flight of your choice
